Meet the Teacher
I have been teaching elementary school for 9 years. I have taught all subjects in grades 1 and 2, as well as grade 6 french, division one music, and phys ed. My specialties are Language Arts and Mathematics.
I love connecting topics together. I believe that literacy and numeracy have a place within all subjects, and that by making connections between units and lessons, students develop a deeper understanding of what they are learning.
Background
I completed my Bachelor of Education with a major in Elementary Studies and a minor in Math and Science at the University of Alberta. After I started teaching, I completed three 500 level courses online about the Daily 5 and CAFE, Daily 3 Math, and Numeracy Strategies. I believe that to be a good educator, you must always be willing to learn and grow yourself.
